Boland Cellar Reserve White 2025 is a premium South African white blend that brings together Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Roussanne in a layered, elegant expression of the vintage. Richness and freshness are carefully balanced, with ripe fruit, subtle aromatics and a refined texture giving the wine both depth and precision.

Each variety contributes a different element to the blend. Chenin Blanc provides fruit and structure, Chardonnay adds breadth, Sauvignon Blanc brings freshness and lift, while Roussanne contributes texture and aromatic complexity. The result is a harmonious white wine with concentration, balance and a long, polished finish.

Crafted from some of Boland Cellar's best vineyard selections, Reserve White 2025 reflects the quality of an exceptional growing season and the cellar's long-standing expertise in blending. It is a strong choice for anyone looking for a premium South African white wine with complexity, freshness and a distinctive sense of vintage.

This is a versatile, food-friendly white with enough depth for richer seafood, poultry and refined dishes, while still retaining the freshness to remain elegant at the table.

The Range

Our Reserve Collection wines represent the pinnacle of our winemakers' craft. Each wine is crafted from the best selection of wines from our region every year and then blended to represent that vintage's characteristics. Thus, a true, and specific, annual "Boland Blend" is made which captures the very essence of the vintage in all respects. Each year the fruit expression and the impact of the terroir on the various components will be selected to ensure that they play their role in painting that vintage's picture accurately.

The Vineyards

Vineyards with a track record of producing the best quality wines over a few years were specifically selected. These vineyards are grown on two dominant soil types, namely decomposed granite and shale soils. The well drained granite soils produce wines with a unique minerality and elegance. The shale soils main characteristics are that it contains a significant amount of clay in the subsoil with good water retention, which produce full wines with concentrated flavours and complexity. We use these different styles of wines as blending components.

Winemaking

Hand-harvested early in the morning, the grapes arrive at the cellar in perfect condition to ensure freshness and that cultivar flavours are retained. The winemaking was managed reductively, and the small, carefully selected batches of different varieties were separately fermented and vinified. The Chenin blanc and the Sauvignon blanc went through a cool and slow fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 10 - 13° Celsius. After fermentation the wine was left on the lees for 7 to 8 months with regular lees stirring, resulting in a full wine with a creamy richness. The Chardonnay and the Roussanne underwent wood maturation in older small French barrels for 5 months to add complexity to the blend. The final blend was left on the lees for a further two months with regular lees stirring before bottling, resulting in a rich, full wine with both structure and elegance.

Wine and Food Pairings

This rich, ripe, yet subtle, aromatic blend of Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Roussanne is beautifully balanced, reflecting the almost perfect growing conditions for white wines across our region. There were sufficient winter rain and a mild and dry growing season which led to superb fruit quality with intense flavours and good acidity.
